Pick a preset for Discord, X, Instagram, LINE, or email, a fixed size from 10 MB, or a quality level. Resolution is in the same menu: a percentage, a long edge in pixels, or 2160p down to 360p.

Quick edits for photos and videos

Crop, straighten, adjust color, apply a style, or trim a video, the same edits you would make in Photos on iPhone. Edit Photo… and Edit Video… open a workspace with a large preview, straight from Finder.

Remove or replace the background

Make the background transparent, or replace it with a green screen, a blue screen, a color you choose, or a blur. Videos have the same options.

Apple Intelligence

Get names based on what is in your images and PDFs, review them, and rename. Or describe what you want, and MacEase builds a plan of image, video, or audio operations that runs only after you confirm.

Recognize Text: Reads text in images and scanned PDFs, then copies it or saves it as a file.
Subtitles: Transcribes video and audio to SRT, WebVTT, or plain text with Apple’s Speech framework, or exports translated SRT.

Apple Intelligence features need Apple Intelligence turned on with its on-device model. Everything else works without it.

The menu only shows what works on the files you selected. Select several kinds at once, and the operations are grouped by kind.

Edit Photo…: Crop, rotate, straighten, adjust color, apply styles or Auto Enhance; compare and undo edits with a histogram.
Resolution & Size: Scale by percentage or long edge, including 720, 480, and 360 px, or enter a Custom Size…. Low-resolution presets never enlarge.
Compress: Platform presets, quality levels, or a Custom Size… target.
Convert: PNG, JPEG, HEIC, WebP, AVIF, JPEG XL, GIF, TIFF, BMP, TGA, ICO, ICNS, SVG, or PDF. SDR for supported HDR images.
Trace to SVG…: Compare a static PNG with editable SVG paths, choose 1–8 colors and a detail level, then save a new file.
Rotate: Right-angle turns and an extra editable angle. Flip horizontally or vertically.
Background: Remove it, or replace it with a green, blue, or custom color, or a blur.
Remove Metadata: Strip all metadata, location only, or selected fields.

Playback Speed: 0.5, 0.75, 1.25, 1.5, 2, and 4× presets, or Custom Speed… from 0.5 to 4×. Pitch is preserved.
Thumbnail: Save the first, middle, or a chosen frame as an image.
Subtitles: Transcribe to SRT, WebVTT, or plain text, or export translated SRT.
Compress: Discord, X, Instagram Reels, LINE, and Email presets, fixed size targets, quality levels, or a Custom Size….

Encoding: Change to UTF-8, UTF-8 with BOM, UTF-16, or Shift_JIS.
Line Endings: Normalize to LF or CRLF.
Pretty Print / Minify / Sort Keys: Format JSON. Sorting supports key comparison, direction, and pinned keys.

Compress: Pack the folder into ZIP, 7z, TAR, or tar.gz.
Rename…: Rename the contents with a live preview.
Folder Tree: Copy the folder structure or save it as a file.
Analyze…: Report disk usage and export it as CSV, JSON, HTML, plain text, or Markdown.
Remove Duplicates…: Find verified duplicates and move the extra copies to the Trash. At least one copy is kept.

Saved as a new file: Results are saved next to the source. If the name is taken, MacEase adds a number instead of overwriting.

On your Mac: Processing runs on your Mac. MacEase only connects to GitHub to check for updates.

Install

Release builds are signed with a self-signed certificate and are not notarized by Apple.Build from source

Open the DMG and drag MacEase to Applications.
Open MacEase. The first time, macOS blocks it because it is not notarized.
In System Settings › Privacy & Security, click Open Anyway next to MacEase. Or run this in Terminal:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/MacEase.app
In the Welcome window, turn on the Finder extension. Then right-click a file in Finder.

Questions

Does MacEase upload my files?

No. Processing runs on your Mac. The app checks GitHub for updates, and macOS may download Speech, Translation, or Apple Intelligence assets that those features require.

MacEase does not appear in the Finder menu

Turn on the Finder extension from the Welcome window or System Settings › General › Login Items & Extensions. Some items appear only for matching selections, and some are hidden by default. Settings › Finder Menu shows them.

Where do the new files go?

Next to their sources, in the same folder. If a name is taken, MacEase adds a number instead of overwriting. With Replace original, MacEase verifies the result before moving the original to the Trash.

Why does macOS block MacEase on first launch?

Release builds use a self-signed certificate and are not notarized by Apple. Follow steps 2 and 3 above, or build from source.
