Folders

Inspect storage, preview a batch rename, or remove verified duplicate files.

How to use it

  1. Select one or more folders in Finder, then open MacEase.
  2. Choose Analyze… for disk usage, Rename… for a live rename preview, or a cleanup operation to review its results.
  3. Confirm any removal. By default, files go to the Trash. Folder Access in Settings can register additional locations.

What you can do

Compress
Compress the folder as ZIP, 7z, TAR, or tar.gz.
Rename…
Rename the contents with a live preview.
Folder Tree
Copy the folder structure or save it as a file.
Analyze…
Report disk usage and export it as CSV, JSON, HTML, plain text, or Markdown.
Remove Duplicates…
Find verified duplicates and move the extra copies to the Trash. At least one copy is kept.
Remove Empty Folders…
Find empty folders and move them to the Trash after confirmation.

Support and limits

  • Duplicates are compared byte by byte and at least one copy is retained. The default asks which copy to keep; saved oldest/newest policies can run automatically.
  • Folder, filename, and extension exclusions can apply globally or per feature. Analyze combines selected folders and exports CSV, JSON, HTML, text, or Markdown.
  • Removing a Folder Access entry does not revoke macOS permissions. If an iCloud folder hides the menu, try Services > Process with MacEase….
  • Permanent deletion is off by default, requires confirmation, and cannot be undone. Media operations work on selected files, not recursive folder scans.

Saving and Undo

Conversions and edits save a new file by default. Replace original verifies the result before moving the source to the Trash. Undo can skip files changed since the operation or originals no longer in the Trash.
