Documents & Text
Export documents, convert structured text, and fix encodings or line endings from Finder.
How to use it
- Select a supported document or text file and open MacEase.
- Choose a conversion, encoding, or line ending. JSON also offers Pretty Print, Minify, and Sort Keys.
- Review the exported file. Settings > Text contains formatting defaults; Settings > Text Recognition & AI contains OCR output options.
What you can do
- Convert
- Export DOCX, ODT, RTF, and RTFD, render HTML and Markdown, and convert CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, TOML, plist, and subtitle files.
- Encoding
- Change to UTF-8, UTF-8 with BOM, UTF-16, or Shift_JIS.
- Line Endings
- Normalize to LF or CRLF.
- Pretty Print / Minify / Sort Keys
- Format JSON. Sorting supports key comparison, direction, and pinned keys.
Support and limits
- DOCX, ODT, RTF, and RTFD export to PDF or TXT using basic rich-text reflow. Complex Office layouts can change.
- HTML can export source text, rendered text, or a continuous-page PDF. Scripts and external resources are blocked. Markdown exports TXT, HTML, or PDF and omits raw HTML and unsafe links.
- CSV exports TXT, JSON, XML, HTML, or Markdown. JSON exports TXT, CSV, XML, plist, YAML, or TOML. XML, YAML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, and plist have supported text/JSON paths; not every pair is convertible.
- JSON-to-CSV requires an array of flat objects. Structured conversions can lose comments and formatting. SRT/WebVTT conversion preserves timing but rejects unsupported styling or metadata.
- Available encodings are UTF-8, UTF-8 with BOM, UTF-16, and Shift_JIS; line endings are LF or CRLF. Document and structured-text exports retain their sources.
Saving and Undo
Conversions and edits save a new file by default. Replace original verifies the result before moving the source to the Trash. Undo can skip files changed since the operation or originals no longer in the Trash.
